Hamilton Men’s H70555533 Khaki Field Black Dial Watch Review

April 15, 2014 by Mat 1 Comment

Hamilton Men's H70555533 Khaki Field Black Dial Watch Review

If you are looking for a sporty version of an understated and elegant Hamilton watch, the Hamilton Men’s H70555533 Khaki Field Black Dial Watch might just be the timepiece you’re looking for. This watch is an authentic luxury watch due to its automatic movement. However, its track time keeping features as well as its limited water resistance definitely qualify it as a sports luxury watch. While not exactly in the same league as a Breitling or TAG Heuer, the Hamilton Men’s H70555533 Khaki Field Black Dial Watch definitely more than holds its own if you are looking for a versatile watch that looks great both indoors and outdoors. With that said, this model might be a bit too understated for people who are looking for sporty luxury watches. While all Hamilton watches are made in Switzerland, all Hamilton models still retain their American character. After all, Hamilton watches were originally made in Pennsylvania and the first Hamiltons were pocket watches that made sure American trains arrived on schedule. If you are looking for an elegant, understated ‘outdoor’ or ‘sporty’ timepiece, try the Hamilton Men’s H70555533 Khaki Field Black Dial Watch.

H70555533 Overview & What I Think

When considering any watch purchase, always filter your choices through three key considerations: style, movement type (mechanism), and value-added features. You can quickly see which watches are overpriced, overhyped, or simply overrated. Thankfully, on all three counts, the Hamilton Men’s H70555533 Khaki Field Black Dial Watch does quite well. With that said, keep in mind that this watch isn’t for everyone.

H70555533 Style:

Stainless steel casing with fixed bezel made of stainless steel. This unit has a bracelet made of brown leather. This watch’s display is a black dial and its hands are luminous. This watch uses Arabic numeric characters. GMT scale is supported. Date display available.

The great selling point of Hamilton watches has always been their understated elegance. They just look good. They don’t try to steal the spotlight. They aren’t loud. They aren’t brash. They don’t make a big production of themselves. They just are and they are cool. Unfortunately, while this type of understated elegant appeal works for most Hamilton watches (especially their indoor models), the Hamilton Men’s H70555533 Khaki Field Black Dial Watch runs the risk of not being ‘sporty’ enough. It just doesn’t bring much to the table when it comes all the chronometer wizardry you’d expect from a ‘sporty’ watch.

Watch Movement Type:

Automatic – Powered by your own movements

While Hamilton watches originated in the United States, they are now imported from Switzerland. This allows the Hamilton to give its users the best of both worlds-American populist accessibility with Swiss precision and manufacturing excellence. This is in full display when sizing up the Hamilton Men’s H70555533 Khaki Field Black Dial Watch movement. This model is fully automatic-it is powered by your physical movements. This is a testament to its excellent Swiss craftsmanship.

H70555533 Special Features:

Limited water resistance to 330 feet, GMT, calendar, seconds, minutes, hours.

This ‘field’ watch is definitely an ‘outdoor’ watch meant strictly for people who don’t plan to spend too much time in the outdoors. While it has some ‘outdoor’ features, it doesn’t really give one a lot of confidence in being a truly outdoor watch. It has a ‘neither fish nor fowl’ feel to it-when it comes to its special features.

If you are looking for a great-looking true luxury automatic movement watch that you can take outside under normal conditions, you can’t go wrong with the Hamilton Men’s H70555533 Khaki Field Black Dial Watch. With that said, this unit’s main drawback is that it might not be sporty enough for the particular outdoor uses of a person with a more active lifestyle.

Worn my example solidly for five years. During this time it has not missed a beat, looks great. I have been swimming in it, shower daily, looks fab on any nato and just does what it says on the tin…..very well. A keeper, the type of watch you get attached to, yes…love. I own everything from Rolex subs to nice Seikos. This watch is on my wrist most of the time, my others sit in the box and look pretty. This is a watch for the everyday bloke (Guy, if you’re an American, Gal for that matter) , who just want a watch for all events. It really is truly waterproof and it looks so ….well….unfussy, practical, no-nonsense . Buy one, you will not ever part with it.
